14.02.2025

We are pleased to welcome a new member to CAIDAS. Adrian Krenzer joined CAIDAS as head of an independent junior research group as of 1 January 2025.

We are pleased to welcome a new member to CAIDAS. Dr. Adrian Krenzer has joined CAIDAS and is heading the newly established research group Artificial Intelligence in Medical Applications (AIM).

Adrian studied business and computer science. He completed his PhD in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Würzburg, where he developed a real-time polyp detection system using AI. During his doctoral studies, he contributed to interdisciplinary projects at the intersection of medicine and computer science.
Before joining CAIDAS, Adrian worked at the Chair of Artificial Intelligence and Knowledge Systems at the University of Würzburg, where he did research initiatives in AI for colorectal cancer screening and automated medical documentation.
AIM focuses on advancing AI-driven solutions in medical imaging. The group develops innovative machine learning approaches, particularly deep learning and self-supervised learning, to enhance diagnostic accuracy and efficiency in gastroenterology and radiology. The team is dedicated to integrating AI systems into real-time clinical workflows, improving patient outcomes, and streamlining medical documentation processes.
One of AIM’s key research directions includes transformer-based models for endoscopic and radiologic image analysis, AI systems leveraging medical reports to reduce manual annotation requirements, and multimodal AI combining medical imaging with natural language processing. In collaboration with Charles University Prague, the group is working on developing diagnostic AI tools aimed at real-time clinical decision-making. Additionally, AIM is committed to incorporating explainable AI techniques to enhance transparency and trust in AI-based medical applications.
We are very much looking forward to the exciting research ahead and wish Adrian and AIM great success at CAIDAS!
